TOM BRADY's relationship with ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON hit a rocky patch this week when the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS quarterback, making his weekly "PATRIOTS MONDAY" appearance on KIRK MINIHANE and GERRY CALLAHAN's morning show TODAY (1/29), cut the visit short over a comment made by another WEEI host about BRADY's daughter.
On FRIDAY night, ALEX REIMER, guesting on MIKE MUTNANSKY's evening show, called BRADY's daughter VIVIAN, who appeared briefly in a documentary series on her father, an "annoying little pissant." REIMER has been indefinitely suspended by the station, but BRADY, this morning, told KIRK AND CALLAHAN, "I've tried to come on this show for many years and showed you guys a lot of respect. I've always tried to come on and do a good job for you guys. It's very disappointing when you hear that, certainly. My daughter, or any child, they certainly don't deserve that." BRADY said he is evaluating whether to continue with his weekly segment for WEEI.
WEEI Reacts
WEEI SVP/Market Manager MARK HANNON issued the following statement:
"We are disappointed and embarrassed by ALEX REIMER’s on-air comments made last Thursday evening. His remarks were utterly indefensible, and mean-spirited commentary directed in any way at children is wholly inappropriate. Mr. REIMER remains suspended indefinitely from all WEEI platforms.
"We deeply regret what happened and offer our sincerest apologies to TOM BRADY, his daughter and his family, as well as the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS organization. Mr. BRADY has been a long time contributor to WEEI throughout his PATRIOTS career, and he has treated us with the utmost professionalism and respect throughout the partnership. We have communicated our course of action to the PATRIOTS and TOM BRADY, and they are in support of our disciplinary response."
Just last week, WEEI and the PATRIOTS renewed their agreement for the weekly "PATRIOTS MONDAY" and "PATRIOTS FRIDAY" segments.
