WBAL-A, WIYY (98 Rock)/Baltimore Take The Plunge

HEARST News-Talk WBAL-A/BALTIMORE and sister Active Rock WIYY (98 ROCK)/BALTIMORE participated in the MSP Polar Bear Plunge, which raised money for the SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF MARYLAND. People who plunged in the frosty waters had to secure a minimum pledge of $75 with the money going to directly support 7,549 SPECIAL OLYMPICS athletes around the state.
In all, the plungers had raised over $2 million through plunging efforts.
The listeners of 98 ROCK plunged with station personnel and raised over $21,000. They also ate a feast from FAMOUS DAVE’s, hung out, took pictures and got a PBP sweat shirt. The first 98 people to sign up with the minimum donation will receive a purple 98 ROCK fleece blanket.
WBAL afternoon co-anchor STACY LYN plunged into the CHESAPEAKE BAY 24 times over 24 hours starting on FRIDAY, JANUARY 19th, personally raising over $12,400 for the SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF MARYLAND.
