The morning show and afternoon drive teams at Contemporary Christian KSBJ (89.3)/HOUSTON were awarded second place as “Ultimate Morning Show” and first place as “Ultimate Afternoon Show” by a recent HOUSTON CHRONICLE online survey.
Though the station’s shows were not included on the ballot, listeners chose to “write in” the KSBJ afternoon team of CHUCK PRYOR and AMANDA CARROLL for favorite afternoon show and secured a close second in the morning show category for MIKE KANKELFRITZ and SUSAN O’DONNELL.
“We are honored that our listeners and peers in the radio industry have recognized us as a leader and favorite,” said Pres./GM TIM McDERMOTT. “We are only as good as our listeners, so the awards are a reflection of the incredible people who tune in and support KSBJ.”
The station also recently received R&R’s “RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR (MAJOR MARKET)” for the third consecutive year.
In other station news, KSBJ announced that it is back to full capacity after being temporarily silenced by a lightening strike on AUGUST 22. Normally broadcasting at a 100,000-watt signal, KSBJ has been broadcasting at a reduced power of 8,500 watts. With the repairs, the station now has a digital-ready antenna and will begin working immediately on the installation of the HD radio transmission system.
