Radio Woodstock Kicks Off 2018 Supporter Drive

One year ago, WDST (RADIO WOODSTOCK)/POUGHKEEPSIE-WOODSTOCK, NY launched a new model in commercial FM radio, becoming the first station of its kind to be exclusively local business and listener supported. RADIO WOODSTOCK currently has 500 supporters and is seeking to double that number to 1000 by the end of its three-week-long Supporter Drive, which launches on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24th.
With the support of its listeners, RADIO WOODSTOCK has cut back the number of commercial minutes per hour and caps commercial breaks at two and a half minutes. The station has carried out numerous station improvements because of listener support, including the acquisition of new broadcast equipment for its studio and remote broadcast operations, stage lights for its Utopia Soundstage and a new computer server central for the operation of the station.
RADIO WOODSTOCK’s owner, GARY CHETKOF said, “We’ve created a new, unique paradigm for our independent, locally-based and programmed radio station -- one that competes with billion-dollar broadcast corporations that own six-plus radio stations in the HUDSON VALLEY. We are on a mission to keep RADIO WOODSTOCK independent and preserve our unique, eclectic programming. Independence is our greatest asset, and it’s only made possible through the listeners and local businesses who support us.”
