The CLEAR CHANNEL Country KCTR/BILLINGS, MT BREAKFAST FLAKES held their annual FLAKESGIVING DAY this past SATURDAY (11/18) at the SHRINE AUDITORIUM. They handed out 1,500 meal kits that included a frozen turkey, 10 lbs. of potatoes, corn, olives, stuffing, gravy mix and rolls. Each kit is designed to feed six people, so it is estimated that 10,000 people that may not have had THANKSGIVING dinner now will.
Two hours before the event began, dozens of drivers lined up to deliver meals to a local women's shelter, a veterans home and shut-ins across central MONTANA. As has been the tradition for the past 18 years, all meals are handed out free of charge and with no questions asked. Anyone who lines up will receive a meal kit.
An estimated 250 volunteers showed up on FRIDAY (11/17) to put the kits together, including numerous high school students who were bussed in from across the community. Since the event began in 1998, FLAKESGIVING DAY has fed over 180,000 people in need.
