BONNEVILLE Country WIL/ST. LOUIS morning man CORNBREAD decided he wanted a fresh turkey for THANKSGIVING dinner this year, so a listener brought him a live one last week (11/17). The bird, named POTATO HEAD by a local pre-school class, spent his the last few days in a cage in the studio while listeners decided if he should be enjoyed alongside stuffing and yams or be set free.
This morning, CORNBREAD announced that the majority of the listeners agreed with him, and the bird would be eaten. But fear not, fowl lovers, it seems that POTATO HEAD has a guardian angel. In the final moments, CARDINALS coach TONY LaRUSSA called in and asked for a reprieve for the doomed bird. As he relented, CORNBREAD said, “The skipper TONY LaRUSSA is the one guy who could get me to release POTATO HEAD. You can’t cross the CARDS, that’s bad karma!”
