Mark Wainwright Returns To WSYR/Syracuse After Cancer Battle

MARK WAINWRIGHT has returned to mornings at iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WSYR-A-F/SYRACUSE after time off to battle throat cancer.

In a post on the station's website, WAINWRIGHT chronicled his medical issues, starting with the discovery of a swollen lymph node in his neck that led to the cancer diagnosis and spending "most of last summer getting juiced and nuked." He said that after a period during which his voice was "a disaster," doctors finally cleared him to try and go back on the air; he will be doing a shortened version of his show 6-9a (ET) weekdays "until we know that everything is working. I hope I'll be able to return to a four-hour show eventually, but that might take a little while."

DAVE ALLEN has been filling in while WAINWRIGHT has been on leave. WAINWRIGHT called into ALLEN's show FRIDAY to announce his return:
