John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Rolls Into Austin

The JOHN LENNON Educational Tour Bus (the LENNON BUS), a state-of-the-art mobile production facility that provides hands-on experiences for students of all ages, presented by OTHER WORLD COMPUTING (OWC), returned to AUSTIN, TX, for a two-day stop filled with activities, concerts and a panel discussion last week, during the SxSW festival.

Events on opening day included an Emo Night party featuring performances by RZA of WU-TANG CLAN ft. STONE MECCA, PUSSY RIOT, KOLARS, TUOMO & MARCUS, ARLIE and M. RIVERS. 

Day two featured an event, called Come Together For Education, giving attendees a sneak peak at the new LENNON BUS curriculum which uses JOHN and YOKO’s life and music to engage K-12 students in conversations and activities around the topics of peace, empathy, activism, social justice and more. Activities included a panel discussion, Imagine: Fostering Sustained Social and Emotional Development Through Multimedia, Music and the Arts.  

Held at THE BELMONT, the event was closed out with a performance by the band HANSON.

“This is a great time of year to celebrate music in Austin, and showcase the work of the LENNON BUS to all those who join us,” said BRIAN ROTHSCHILD, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the LENNON BUS. “The support of musicians and artists like HANSON and RZA is crucial for our mission to provide all children with access to high quality music, art and SEL (social and emotional learning) programs.”
