WARNER BROS./WAR artist CHRIS JANSON became the newest, and youngest living, member of the GRAND OLE OPRY last night (3/20) as he was officially inducted by PEARL RECORDS' GARTH BROOKS. JANSON was invited to join the OPRY by CAPITOL NASHVILLE's KEITH URBAN during JANSON's sold-out RYMAN AUDITORIUM show in NASHVILLE last month (NET NEWS 2/6). "CHRIS, it is my honor to welcome you to the family," said BROOKS to JANSON as he handed him his OPRY member award. "This will be -- no matter how many times you look back on it -- the greatest night of your music career."
JANSON addressed media, industry professionals, his label family from WARNER MUSIC NASHVILLE, and radio partners who had traveled from across the country to be a part of the special night. Sharing his sentiments, JANSON repeatedly reinforced his gratitude and admiration for the honor and privilege of joining the GRAND OLE OPRY and reminded everyone in attendance that he only had two dreams -- to have songs on the radio and to play the GRAND OLE OPRY. JANSON echoed those same themes from the OPRY stage as he accepted his official membership. "How do you not cry on a night like this?" began JANSON. "To know me is to know I really, truly love the GRAND OLE OPRY. This will be a moment I will never forget. Thanks for making my dreams come true, and thanks for buying a ticket to the OPRY to see it happen! I hope you come back a million times. I'll buy the ticket for ya. I don't even care. I love you that much!" See the full video of JANSON's official GRAND OLE OPRY induction here.
