BANC OF AMERICA SECURITIES analyst JONATHAN JACOBY informed investors MONDAY that SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO and XM SATELLITE RADIO are seeing a 20% falloff in retail sales for fourth quarter, based on his channel checks with retailers. ASSOCIATED PRESS reports that JACOBY expects future growth to shift to the OEM auto sales category and says that while the short-term "may be difficult for the stocks as investors could view weak retail trends as a key indicator in determining longer-term industry metrics," the slowdown does not mean that the satellite radio industry is in long-term trouble.
