Longtime BBC radio personality ALAN FREEMAN died this week in LONDON. He was 79.
The AUSTRALIA-born FREEMAN, nicknamed "FLUFF," started at 3KZ/MELBOURNE before moving to RADIO LUXEMBOURG in 1957 and joining the BBC's old LIGHT PROGRAMME in 1960, hosting "RECORDS AROUND FIVE" and "PICK OF THE POPS" for the network. More recently, he hosted "THEIR GREATEST BITS" for BBC RADIO 2 from 1997-2001.
