SOUTH FLORIDA radio legend RICK SHAW told listeners TUESDAY morning that he will retire sometime in the near future.
SHAW, morning man on LINCOLN FINANCIAL Classic Hits WMXJ (MAJIC 102.7)/MIAMI, has been in radio for 50 years, starting (under his real name, JIM HUMMEL) in ST. LOUIS in 1956 and later enjoying long runs at WQAM-A/MIAMI and the old WAXY/FT. LAUDERDALE before moving to MAJIC.
SHAW, who will exit when the station finds a replacement, will continue voicing PSAs for the station and will continue as Pres. of the station's MAJIC CHILDREN'S FUND.
