NAB Education Foundation Names 2018 Celebration Of Service To America Winners

The NAB EDUCATION FOUNDATION has announced the winners of its 2018 Celebration of Service to AMERICA Awards, to be honored at the Celebration of Service to AMERICA dinner on JUNE 12th in WASHINGTON.
“Local broadcasters play a crucial role in informing, supporting and strengthening communities across our country,” said NABEF President MARCELLUS ALEXANDER. “This year’s winners represent the ethos of broadcasting and the industry’s unwavering commitment to public service. We look forward to honoring these outstanding stations in the nation’s capital.”
The winners are:
- President's Special Award: Special honors to broadcasters in hurricane and wildfire-ravaged areas, including FLORIDA, PUERTO RICO, TEXAS, the U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, CALIFORNIA, MONTANA, OREGON and WASHINGTON, and for broadcasters nationwide for their support of local communities during these natural disasters.
- Service to Community Award for Television – Ownership Group: TEGNA, “Selling Girls”
- Service to Community Award for Radio – Major Market: TAXI PRODUCTIONS Urban AC KJLH/COMPTON-LOS ANGELES. “102.3 KJLH Women’s Health Expo”
- Service to Community Award for Television – Large Market: TRIBUBE FOX affiliate KDVR (FOX 31)/DENVER, “FOX 31 Problem Solvers: Serving Those Who Serve”
