The ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH's DAN CAESAR reports that MARKEL MEDIA's RANDY MARKEL, owner of Sports KFNS-A/ST. LOUIS, is talking to the owners of crosstown News-Talk KTRS-A, CH RADIO HOLDINGS, about selling his station.
MARKEL, who revived KFNS from bankruptcy in 2015 and lured popular afternoon host FRANK O. PINION to the station from KTRS last year, told CAESAR that he hopes to "get something worked out" with CH, with the latter "buying me out or merging with me, not vice versa." CH GM MARK DORSEY said that talks were underway but that "We don’t want a limited partnership; we don’t want a 50-50 split. We want to run it. If RANDY wants to relinquish it, then I’d go to our board. They’re open to growth.” And MARKEL said that he is "in talks with others, too" but noted that he does not "need to get out" and DORSEY added that no deal is imminent.
