Podcast network CADENCE13 and NIELSEN are collaborating on research looking into consumer habits of podcast listeners, and have released results from their initial study in a post by SVP/Digital Strategy and Analytics JAY GREEN.

Among the findings, podcast fans are shown to spend slightly more per household per year on consumer packaged goods ($4,036, as opposed to $3,981 for the average household, with sports podcast fans spending the most); podcast fans are 58% of all women's beauty buyers, 56% of all snack buyers, and 53% of all carbonated beverage buyers; and the podcast audience influences over $12.9 billion in annual snack purchases, outspending the average household by 4.5%.
