WHITE PINE COMMUNITY BROADCASTING noncommercial WXPR/RHINELANDER, WI is debuting a new series of radio features highlighting stories from the NORTHWOODS region of WISCONSIN. The station reports that "NORTHWOODS STORIES," which will air during local news and on local segments on NPR's "MORNING EDITION" and "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" as well as online, is being supported by a grant from the WISCONSIN HUMANITIES COUNCIL.
“Telling stories of the people and places where we live is an essential part of the WXPR mission and provides a valuable service to our listeners,” said Station Manager JESSIE DICK. “There simply aren’t any radio stations doing work like this in northern WISCONSIN and there are beautiful stories from this region that are not being heard. Our goal is to produce sound-rich, character-driven stories that make people think more deeply about the NORTHWOODS experience and connect them to parts of the NORTHWOODS they’re not familiar with.”
