Movie Rights For 'S-Town' Podcast Sold To Participant Media

"S-TOWN," produced by "THIS AMERICAN LIFE"/"SERIAL," is the latest podcast to get a HOLLYWOOD deal, reports DEADLINE, which says that PARTICIPANT MEDIA has acquired the movie rights to the true-crime series.

The podcast began as an investigation of one crime in a small ALABAMA town and then took a surprise turn that turned up even bigger mysteries.  TOM MCCARTHY ("SPOTLIGHT") is reportedly in talks to direct the feature version, with playwright SAMUEL HUNTER being considered to write the script.
