Michigan Radio To Celebrate 70th Anniversary July 5th

The UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN's News-Talk WUOM (MICHIGAN RADIO)/ANN ARBOR, MI celebrates its 70th anniversary on JULY 5th.

The station, flagship of the public radio network covering the southern portion of the state, signed on the air on JULY 5, 1948.  WUOM adopted the MICHIGAN RADIO name in 1989 and dropped Classical music in 1996 for its present format.  WUOM simulcasts on WFUM/FLINT (which signed on in 1985) and WVGR/GRAND RAPIDS (added in 1961).
