JOHN AMATO, the CEO of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER-BILLBOARD MEDIA GROUP, has resigned.
In an email to staff, VALENCE MEDIA co-CEOs ASIF SATCHU and MODI WICZYK wrote, "the search process for THR/BILLBOARD’s next CEO has already started. VALENCIA is parent company to THR, BILLBOARD, MEDIA RIGHTS CAPITAL, DICK CLARK PRODUCTIONS and buzzing indie film studio A24.
AMATO joined the company in 2014 after serving in various capacities at BACKSTAGE and SONICBIDS, both former BILLBOARD/THR properties. He was chiefly responsible for launching the BILLBOARD HOT 100 MUSIC FESTIVAL, scheduled to take place on AUGUST 18th-19th in JONES BEACH, NY. He also was the chief mover in acquiring music websites SPIN, VIBE and STEREOGUM in 2016.
Several media reports have indicated AMATO was being investigated for influencing newsroom procedures, preventing the publication of a story on sexual harassment charges against former REPUBLIC RECORDS GROUP head CHARLIE WALK.
