KIRK MINIHANE returned to ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON after a week away this morning (8/10), and discussed his battle with depression and suicidal thoughts that landed him in the hospital.
In a frank discussion, MINIHANE, who co-hosts mornings with GERRY CALLAHAN, disclosed on Twitter THURSDAY (8/9) that he had checked himself into WINCHESTER HOSPITAL on AUGUST 2nd and was transferred to MCLEAN HOSPITAL, the psychiatric hospital run by HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL, before being released earlier this week. He said that he had experienced suicidal thoughts "for the first time in my life" and began "almost doing research on it," falling into a "rabbit hole" on the Internet. He said that he decided to check himself into the hospital while wandering around a train station thinking about suicide by jumping in front of a train, deciding instead that he had to "give up whatever power I have" and driving to the hospital.
