ENTERCOM Sports WSSP-A-W289CB (SPORTSRADIO 105.7 THE FAN)/MILWAUKEE and regionally syndicated 10a-2p (CT) host BILL MICHAELS was hit by lightning during a remote from a golf tournament in EAU CLAIRE, WI on THURSDAY (8/16), but MICHAELS survived the incident with a headache, a few burns, and some numbness, reports the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL-SENTINEL.
MICHAELS was broadcasting his show live from the JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT Golf Outing at WILD RIDGE & MILL RUN GOLF COURSE from a patio and under cover and had just interviewed GREEN BAY PACKERS legend and new Pro Football Hall of Famer JERRY KRAMER when a lightning bolt hit near the table and sent energy at MICHAELS. The host said on FRIDAY's show that he "casually got up, told a few people we're off the air, I can't do the show" and asked for the location of the nearest hospital. He was treated for four hours and released, saying that he has recovered except for a swollen finger and a burned pair of shoes. "I figure I've got my one-in-a-million shot out of the way," MICHAELS joked.
MICHAELS' wife posted more details on Facebook:
