ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON, the BOSTON RED SOX, and regional cable sports network NESN's annual "WEEI/NESN JIMMY FUND RADIO-TELETHON" raised over $4.4 million this year for the JIMMY FUND cancer charity, bringing the total raised since the event was launched by WEEI and the SOX in 2002 to over $53 million. This year's event, a 36-hour live broadcast on WEEI with simulcasting on NESN, was held AUGUST 21-22 and included appearances by TOM BRADY, JIM KELLY, MASSACHUSETTS Gov. CHARLIE BAKER, BOSTON Mayor MARTY WALSH, and several RED SOX, BRUINS, CELTICS, and PATRIOTS players and other celebrities.
“The JIMMY FUND makes significant contributions to those battling cancer in the Boston area, and we are proud to support its efforts through this yearly event,” said ENTERCOM BOSTON Regional President and Market Manager MARK HANNON. “It is an honor for our team to give back to the community by raising funds on behalf of the organization and we are blown away by the incredible generosity of WEEI listeners who make this event so successful year in and year out.”
