The FCC's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the proposed reimbursement to radio and TV stations for expenses incurred in the TV post-spectrum incentive auction repack is now open for comments in light of its publication in the Federal Register. The proposal, making full-power FM stations and translators licensed and transmitting by APRIL 13th, 2017 eligible for the funds, reimbursing costs for permanent relocation, temporary or permanent modification of facilities, or purchase or modification of auxiliary facilities to cover at least 80% of a station's coverage area or population while construction of repacked TV facilities is in progress, appeared in the Federal Register on AUGUST 27th, making comments due SEPTEMBER 26th and replies due OCTOBER 26th.
An order that accompanied the NPRM that allows the Media Bureau to hire a contractor to assist in the reimbursement process, administer the fund, and make calculations on how much eligible stations would get was also published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on MONDAY (8/27) and became effective on that date.
