Former Columbia Rock Promotion Vet Jim Del Balzo Passes

"Rocky" Was 62

Longtime COLUMBIA RECORDS Rock Promotion Executive JIM "ROCKY" DEL BALZO passed away on TUESDAY (9/4) after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 62.

DEL BALZO had a storied career as SVP/Rock at COLUMBIA RECORDS from 1981 to 2002 and helped shape the careers of  ELVIS COSTELLO, WILLIE NILE, LITTLE STEVEN VAN ZANDT, JAMES TAYLOR, ALICE IN CHAINS and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN among others.

DEL BALZO is survived by his spouse MARY BETH, daughters JESSICA CORDING and JULIA and son-in-law THEO TSAKALIS. DEL BELZO, a noted dog lover, is also survived by his beloved dogs Satch, Janey, Eli and granddog Delbert.
