ALL ACCESS has learned that MIMI WHEELER will be assuming MD chores for BEASLEY Country WSOC/CHARLOTTE, following the FRIDAY (9/7) departure of longtime APD/MD RICK MCCRACKEN. WHEELER joined WSOC as Digital PD/Associate Morning Show Producer in JUNE, following time with CURTIS MEDIA Country WQDR/RALEIGH (NET NEWS 7/14). Send congrats to WHEELER here.
MCCRACKEN's exit ends a 32-year run with WSOC. This morning (9/10), MCCRACKEN posted an open letter to industry friends via his FACEBOOK page, sharing, "By this point most all of you have heard that I am no longer with my longtime radio company ... I walked out the door with the same skills and abilities, drive, conscience and heart--and ears--that served me so well at WSOC. I'm confident that I can put these attributes to work in any number of ways."
MCCRACKEN started as an air personality before taking on the dual MD/APD role in 1993. Reach him via email here. This move comes on the heels of longtime WSOC PD DJ STOUT's sudden resignation last month (NET NEWS 8/16).
