KDKA-A/Pittsburgh's Mike Pintek Dies At 65

MIKE PINTEK, the longtime News-Talk KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH midday host, has passed away of pancreatic cancer. He was 65 and died early TODAY (9/12) in MCCANDLESS, PA.
PINTEK joined KDKA in 1982 as a reporter after stints as News Director at WNOW-A/YORK, PA and WKBO-A/HARRISBURG, PA and news anchor at WASH/WASHINGTON and began his KDKA talk show in 1985, hosting until JUNE of this year, when he took a leave of absence due to a stroke while receiving chemotherapy and radiation for his cancer.
While hosting at KDKA, PINTEK also appeared on former sister CBS O&O KDKA-TV hosting "PITTSBURGH 2-DAY" and anchoring news updates.
It's with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that our very own @mikepintek passed away early this morning after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Pintek was 65.

GRIFFIN, who recently left KDKA-TV, has launched the sparkt.com website to report on his treatment and raise awareness of HPV and related cancers.
