RIO SALADO COLLEGE News-Talk-Jazz-Blues KJZZ/PHOENIX Associate GM MARK MORAN has been demoted due to inappropriate conduct that prompted an internal investigation by the licensee, the MARICOPA COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT.
The station placed MORAN on administrative leave in MAY; he returned to work on SEPTEMBER 4th but has been demoted to a position in the marketing department as Senior Project Manager at a 5% pay cut and must undergo sexual harassment training and refrain from drinking alcohol while representing the school, reports the ARIZONA REPUBLIC.
The station's own reporting on the demotion notes that the investigation "concluded that he did not sexually harass women at the station" but that MORAN "should be required to get sexual harassment training" and made a false statement to the investigator, JEAN WILCOX, and the REPUBLIC is reporting that the accusations against MORAN were that he "made sexist comments, drove his co-workers after drinking alcohol, and was untruthful when an investigator asked if he had kissed a former intern," as well as making inappropriate and/or sexist comments like ""off-color jokes, often followed by an apology; personal questions to female subordinates, jokes about LGBTQ people."
WILCOX, however, found that while MORAN violated district policies involving willful and intentional failure to perform job duties and dishonesty, the sexual harassment, unsafe driving, and hostile work environment claims were unsubstantiated.
