While HURRICANE FLORENCE has moved off to the NORTHEAST as a rain event, communities in the CAROLINAS are still suffering and planning the cleanup.
The folks at iHEARTMED/MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- which includes Country WGTR, Country WEGX, Top 40 WWXM, Rock WRZX, and Adult Hits WYNA -- share with ALL ACCESS, "Our teams are continuing to regularly disseminate all HURRICANE FLORENCE updates, including warnings, closings, traffic and weather updates, as well as shared experiences amongst our listeners. The MYRTLE BEACH market ran continuous coverage on all stations beginning THURSDAY of last week, with the FLORENCE market joining them in the effort on FRIDAY. Both markets issued extensive evacuation guidance, shelter information, traffic, and storm tracking.
"In addition, we have teamed up with information officers from various agencies and service organizations to cover rising water levels, closed bridges or roads, shelter info, how-to-get help info, and much more. In particular, we have teamed up with the American Red Cross and have already initiated a plan to deliver updated information and relief efforts that will include at least one on-site broadcast.
"To ensure our local talent got a break over the weekend, we rolled in 100% custom wall to wall coverage for the market with the help of our TAMPA and ORLANDO teams; this included full digital and social support for all stations. The around-the-clock updates focused on critical news, such as local and state government information. Should conditions get catastrophic, we will add in more live or as-live breaks with officials on the ground to keep the community aware of changing conditions and relief efforts."
