Hundreds of WGTS (91.9)/WASHINGTON DC listeners helped people suffering from the effects of HURRICANE FLORENCE in NORTH and SOUTH CAROLINA by donating cases of water to be sent to help evacuees. Yesterday, WGTS 91.9 and trucking company REINHART FOODSERVICE, which provided a tractor trailer, parked it in a grocery store parking lot in SPRINGFIELD, VA to collect the water from listeners.
So many listeners responded a second truck had to be brought in. By the time it was all done, both trucks were completely full with 35 pallets -- 96,000 pounds of water or 11,500 gallons. WGTS then teamed with HISRADIO in GREENVILLE, SC to hook up with HARVEST HOPE FOOD BANK, who took the water and delivered it to the people who needed it the most in the CAROLINAS.
“When two radio stations, a food service company, a food bank and hundreds of listeners all come together for a common cause you can’t help but be amazed at how God can work through so many different groups of people,” says WGTS GM KEVIN KRUEGER.
