Following a 25 year run working with a number of acts, UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP's dance imprint, ASTRALWERKS, is undergoing major changes. Having launched in 1993, the label has become a staple in the electronic music community as the home to releases from KRAFTWERK, THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS, DEADMAU5, FATBOY SLIM, PORTER ROBINSON and others. This year, ASTRALWERKS brings in a new round of talent and team members as it seeks to reposition itself as an independent part of the dance music arena.
GM TOBY ANDREWS has signed acts ILLENIUM and AXWELL & INGROSSO. At the same time, ASTRALWERKS has tapped into a fresh set of staffers from across the dance music space. Joining the label’s marketing team are LUKE ARMITAGE, NICK SUNG and CATHERINE CORKERY, who have worked on campaigns for acts such as JAX JONES and TIESTO, GTA and REZZ, and WHETHAN and RUDIMENTAL respectively. NICOLE LEE, who also joins to help lead strategy, brings a resume that includes heading campaigns for THE CHAINSMOKERS and DIPLO.
On the A&R side, JEREMY VUERNICK, who had been serving as SVP/A&R at CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP, has been named Head of A&R for ASTRALWERKS. VEURNICK maintains his work with CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP’s RYAN MURPHY, with former BIG BEAT A&R executive NATALIE DODGE joining the ASTRALWERKS team as Sr. Dir./A&R and SERGIO VEGA transitioning to the label from WILLIAM MORRIS ENDEAVOR. Additional appointments include JOE MORTIMER (KYGO, SNAKEHIPS) to Creative Director and JIN JU LEE (TMWRK) to Administrative Assistant.
