Canadian Radio Station Owner, Manager George Grant Dies At 76

GEORGE GRANT, a longtime Canadian radio manager and station owner and former co-owner of the CFL's HAMILTON TIGER CATS, died MONDAY (9/17) due to complications from chemotherapy in TORONTO. He was 76.
GRANT began his career as the morning host at CKAR-A/HUNTSVILLE, ON in 1964, then worked as a host and PD at VOCM-A/ST. JOHN'S, NL. He then returned to ONTARIO with a stint at CHFI/TORONTO, moving from sales to helicopter traffic reporter to VP of Sales and GM. He owned CHAR-A and CKQT/OSHAWA, ON in 1976-90, then, after investing as a partner in the NHL's OTTAWA SENATORS in 1992 and the CFL's HAMILTON TIGER CATS in 1993 and becoming a full co-owner of the TI-CATS in 1995-2003, he served as President and CEO of MOSES ZNAIMER's MZ MEDIA/ZOOMERMEDIA, owner of Adult Standards CFZM-A (ZOOMER RADIO) and Classical CFMX-CFMZ/TORONTO, in 2004-13 and was part of the group preparing to launch indigenous stations in TORONTO and OTTAWA.
