The price for POWELL BROADCASTING COMPANY, LLC's sale of Top 40/Rhythmic WPFM (HOT 107.9)/PANAMA CITY, FL to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION is $472,000. The price was not disclosed by the broker when the sale was announced last week.
In other filings with the FCC, TIGER MEDIA LLC is selling Classic Hits WPKY-A and W277CK (THE TIGER)/PRINCETON, KY to BETH A. MANN's HAM BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC. for $137,500 plus an LMA before closing.
COCHISE MEDIA LICENSES LLC is selling KXML/FAIRFIELD, ID to LEE FAMILY BROADCASTING, INC. for $150,000.
PEACE AND JUSTICE NETWORK OF SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY is selling noncommercial KBCC/TRACY, CA to VOICE OF STOCKTON for $1.
Requesting Silent STAs were DR. MICHAEL AUGUSTUS CULTURAL AND MUSICAL ARTS FOUNDATION (KEZF/PINE BLUFFS, WY, obtaining transmission equipment); FIRST ASSEMBLY KING'S CATHEDRAL & CHAPELS (KHLO-A/HILO, HI, fault between transmitter and tower); GARY L. MOSS (K256BW/WACO, TX, relocation);
RADIO KINGSTON CORP. has filed for an STA to operate W300DU/KINGSTON, NY on its new tower despite rust damage while it evaluates repair possibilities.
HOLSTON VALLEY BROADCASTING CORPORATION has applied for an STA to operate WTFM/KINGSPORT, TN on an adjacent tower due to the TV repack.
THE ENTERCOM DIVESTITURE TRUST has closed on the sale of Top 40 KMVQ (99.7 NOW), Urban AC KBLX, and AC KOIT/SAN FRANCISCO, Classic Rock KUFX (98.5 K-FOX)/SAN JOSE, and Sports KHTK-A, Country KNCI, AC KYMX (MIX 96), and Hot AC KZZO (NOW 100.5)/SACRAMENTO. to BONNEVILLE INTERNATIONAL CORP. $141 million. BONNEVILLE has been operating the stations under an LMA since ENTERCOM closed on its merger with, and acquisition of, CBS RADIO.
And AURIO A. MATOS BARRETO's LA MAS Z RADIO, INC. has closed on the sale of Contemporary Christian WBYM-A (PURA PALABRA RADIO)/BAYAMON, PR to CAGUAS EDUCATIONAL TV, INC. for $1 million.
The Commission has also denied CASA PINON, LLC's application to take Adult Hits KVSL-A (REWIND 108)/SHOW LOW, AZ silent under experimental authority while testing on associated translator K263CA/TAYLOR, AZ is conducted to see if listeners would abandon listening on AM; the station essentially asked to transfer its operation to FM only and "temporarily" assign the KVSL calls to the translator "as a class A facility." In rejecting the application, the Commission said the licensee's request "fails to explain how this experiment will aid in the development of new technology, equipment, systems or services. Furthermore, (the licensee) fails to explain why the information it intends to collect about listeners and sponsors cannot be obtained while it continues to operate KVSL(AM)."
The Commission issued Notices of Unlicensed Operation to 1249 UTICA LLC (106.5 FM, QUEENS, NY); WILLIAM COTTER (104.7 FM, BRIDGEPORT, CT); DAVID GLASFORD (104.7 FM, BRIDGEPORT, CT); DORON WALTON (106.5 FM, BROOKLYN): and MENYLIK SIMMONDS (104.7 FM, BRIDGEPORT, CT).
And a pair of deals were announced that have yet to appear in the FCC database. In one, GRENAX II BROADCASTING is selling four stations in FLAGSTAFF, AZ to STONE CANYON RADIO AND MARKETING, LLC for an undisclosed price. STONE CANYON is headed by former CHERRY CREEK RADIO CEO JOE SCHWARTZ, EMMIS SVP JOHN R. BECK, JR., and WITHERS BROADCASTING/DANA COMMUNICATIONS President DANA WITHERS. The stations are Country KSED-F (107.5 KOLT COUNTRY)/SEDONA, AZ, Classic Rock KWMX (96.7 THE WOLF)/WILLIAMS, AZ, News-Talk KBTK (97.1 THE BIG TALKER)/KACHINA VILLAGE, AZ, and '80s KFLX/CHINO VALLEY-K281BE/FLAGSTAFF (REWIND 92.5/104.1 FM).
In the other deal, the CESAR CHAVEZ FOUNDATION is selling noncommercial Regional Mexican KCCF-F (LA CAMPESINA 88.3 FM)/PHOENIX to VCY AMERICA for an undisclosed price. KALIL AND CO. is the exclusive broker for the deal.
