ALL ACCESS congratulates CAPITOL NASHVILLE's CARRIE UNDERWOOD and her entire team for earning the No. 1 album on the all-genre and Country album charts for the sales week ending THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th. UNDERWOOD's sixth career album, "Cry Pretty," debuted with 266,000 equivalent album units, 251,000 of which were in traditional album sales.
The OKLAHOMA native and former "AMERICAN Idol" champ's latest accomplishment is a history-maker on several levels. She's the first female to earn four #1 Country albums on the all-genre chart. Her latest, "Cry Pretty," joins 2012's "Blown Away," 2009's "Play On," and 2007's "Carnival Ride" atop the charts. Additionally, the first-week mark for "Cry Pretty" is the biggest opening week for a Country album since 2015, when her CAPITOL NASHVILLE label-mate LUKE BRYAN debuted with 345,000 units on "Kill The Lights." UNDERWOOD also logged the biggest album week for any female artist in 2018, and the largest number for a female artist since TAYLOR SWIFT's "Reputation" opened with more than one million in sales in DECEMBER 2017.
