The rumors in BOSTON are hot and heavy that CLEAR CHANNEL will be dropping the liberal Talk format on simulcast WKOX-A/FRAMINGHAM & WXKS-A/EVERETT, with both the BOSTON HERALD and BOSTON GLOBE reporting that changes are coming and the HERALD adding the widely discussed possibility that the stations will pick up a Spanish-language format.
The HERALD also reports that the change will come "sometime in the beginning of next year." And BRIAN MALONEY's RADIO EQUALIZER blog notes that CLEAR CHANNEL has posted on sister WJMN's website a help-wanted ad for Sales Manager for WKOX and WXKS that says the new format is "'RUMBA,' aimed at Spanish-speaking listeners."
Meanwhile, in QUAD CITIES, IL-IA, liberal Talk outlet WKBF-A previewed its previously announced switch to Religion under new ownership by flipping to all-CHRISTMAS on TUESDAY morning (12/5). The station will launch its Religious talk and teaching format as "TRUTH 1270" on JANUARY 1.
