The UNITED STATES Senate, House of Representatives, and the City of NASHVILLE have each proclaimed today - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th - as COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) DAY, marking the 60th anniversary of the trade organization. Founded in 1958 with 160 members, CMA now boasts more than 7,400 industry professionals worldwide. The organization's objectives are to serve as an educational and professional resource for the industry and advance the growth of Country music around the world.
That advancement is accomplished via the annual CMA AWARDS; CMA TOURING AWARDS; CMA TRIPLE PLAY AWARDS; its INTERNATIONAL AWARDS; CMA BROADCAST AWARDS; and the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME, established in 1961. Additionally, the CMA FOUNDATION, established in 2011, has invested more than $21 million towards 87 programs across the national public school system, after school programs, summer camps, and community outreach.
