Approximately 200 NEW YORK radio and advertising executives attended an ARBITRON breakfast briefing in MANHATTAN today (12/7) to provide its customers with an overview of converting from paper-and-pencil diary measurement to the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER (PPM), the value of electronic measurement, and an understanding of how the new audience ratings panel will be managed. All participants learned how the change to electronic measurement would impact how radio and bought and sold.
Those in attendance included representatives from CBS, CUMULUS, EMMIS, SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM and UNIVISION, who joined with advertising execs from CARAT, OMD, J.L. MEDIA, UNIVERSAL MCCANN and ZENITH OPTIMEDIA, as well as rep firm KATZ MEDIA.
"The last diary-based book for NEW YORK is planned for SUMMER 2007, and this kickoff breakfast served to help our customers plan for the transition to the PPM and electronic measurement," said ARBITRON Dir. PPM Products And Services, PPM Implementation JENNIFER HUSTON. "Preparing our customers now is especially important as we’ve accelerated our rollout schedule and the PPM will now be deployed in NEW YORK as well as the NASSAU-SUFFOLK and MIDDLESEX-SOMERSET-UNION markets next year."
