SIRIUSXM's AUTOMATIC connected car plug-in adapter is now being sold through car dealerships with a free trial subscription. The device uses AT&T's LTE-M connectivity to send crash alerts to emergency contacts, summon roadside assistance, locate cars, monitor vehicle health and performance, get recall notifications, and commands to smart home devices.
The new AUTOMATIC Dealer Program will offer a three year free trial of the crash alert and connected maintenance services and six months of premium service, with dealers paying a net cost of as low as $40/vehicle for the device and trial; dealers will be able to get notification when cars are due for service.
“This AUTOMATIC service introduction benefits from the combined resources and capabilities of AUTOMATIC and SIRIUSXM in the area of vehicle connectivity and product development to create a killer offering for dealers and their customers,” said SIRIUSXM EVP/GM, Emerging Business JOE VERBRUGGE. “The AUTOMATIC platform delivers safety and convenience services for consumers that truly enhance the vehicle ownership experience, and the AUTOMATIC Dealer Program gives dealers the ability to provide these benefits to their customers, stay connected to those driving off their lot, and increase loyalty and future service lane traffic.”
SIRIUSXM bought AUTOMATIC in 2017.
