Indie retailers are uniting once again for RECORD STORE DAY BLACK FRIDAY and SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY, NOV. 23rd-24th. Once again bevy of exclusive and limited-run releases will be up for sale. The product can be divided into three camps:
EXCLUSIVES: Titles physically available only at indie record stores.
RSD FIRST: Titles found first at indie record stores, but may be released to other retailers or webstores at some point in the future.
SMALL RUN/REGIONAL LIST: Titles either regionally based and sold at specific stores, or with under 1,000 copies pressed, which means they may be harder to find at record stores around the country. (The majority of titles on this section of the list are there because they have a limited run.)“I will never get tired of saying that gifts from a record store, for yourself or someone else, are just the coolest things you could possibly get,” RECORD STORE DAY Co-Founder/organizer CARRIE COLLITON said. “And I think that a lot of people are realizing that sometimes what you find at a record store is just a little different, a little more special because the person behind the music -- the person who’s putting the release together, the folks behind the package on the shelf feel that record stores are special too.”
