The host of a weekend show on EMMIS News-Talk KLBJ-A-K259AJ/AUSTIN, two of his guests, and an organization of retired police officers are being sued for defamation by a police officer who has been accused of assaulting a woman at a nightclub, reports the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN.
Police Commander JASON DUSTERHOFT alleges that host MICHAEL CARGILL and guests LYNDON LUEDERS and KEVIN FISK defamed him on the SUNDAY afternoon "COME AND TALK IT" show and on Facebook. DUSTERHOFT is also suing EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, the group of retired officers to which FISK and LUEDERS belong. DUSTERHOFT was accused of assaulting a woman at a nightclub and placed on restricted duty, but no charges have been filed and DUSTERHOFT denies the allegations.
On Facebook, CARGILL responded that the suit is "frivolous" and "We will not be intimidated by DUSTERHOFT's attempts to chill free speech."
