iHEARTMEDIA Country WGAR/CLEVELAND will debut the new "LEEANN AND WAZZ SHOW" for mornings on MONDAY, OCTOBER 22nd. LEEANN SOMMERS and STEVE WAZZ succeed BRIAN FOWLER, who departed the station earlier this month (NET NEWS 10/8). WAZZ is a CLEVELAND native who has spent time on the air in DES MOINES, IA; MINNEAPOLIS; and most recently, at iHEARTMEDIA Top 40 WDCG (G105)/RALEIGH, where he served as APD/MD/afternoon host (NET NEWS 10/8/14). In his new role, WAZZ will also handle APD duties for WGAR. SOMMERS has been a member of the WGAR on-air staff since 2010. Congratulate WAZZ here and SOMMERS here.
"Bringing WAZZ back home to CLEVELAND is an important step for WGAR as we develop a fresh new morning show for CLEVELANDERS by CLEVELANDERS," said iHEARTMEDIA/NORTH OHIO Region Pres. KEITH HOTCHKISS. "We are thrilled to pair WAZZ with LEEANN SOMMERS, who is already a fan favorite on WGAR. WAZZ is not only an engaging on-air talent, but he also possesses incredible talents off-air and in the social space." Added WAZZ, "It's great to be home. It's crazy, my parents still live in the same house I grew up in, and to think I would have the opportunity to work at WGAR is incredible. I love CLEVELAND, I love CLEVELAND sports, and I love everything this city stands for. The goal of this amazing radio journey was to eventually get back home and do radio in my hometown. I could not be more excited."
