When CRAIG KARMAZIN’s GOOD KARMA BRANDS takes over SCRIPPS Country WKTI/MILWAUKEE on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1st, it will flip the format to Sports as 94.5 ESPN FM; the station will initially simulcast new sister Sports WAUK-A (540 ESPN).
Current SCRIPPS VP/Radio STEVE WEXLER is set to return to MILWAUKEE as VP/GM for the cluster, which also includes News-Talk WTMJ-A (NET NEWS 8/23). The flip will lead to the departure of Country staffers, including PD RYAN WILD, MD/afternoon host KAREN DALESSANDRO, and morning personality CAROL VONN. "From ratings and promotional successes, to being a MARCONI AWARD Finalist for Large Market Station Of The Year, I’m pleased with the AMAZING things we accomplished at KTI Country," WILD told ALL ACCESS. "The entire team put everything they had into this station, we were successful, and we’re very proud of the impact we made as a live and local country station. We wish the team at GOOD KARMA BRANDS success on their exciting new chapter with 94.5 in MILWAUKEE."
”This is a natural evolution of our sports marketing, event and broadcast business in WISCONSIN,” said KARMAZIN. “94.5 FM’s powerful signal, along with the synergy of its legendary sister station WTMJ-AM, will provide new and exciting ways for fans to stay close to their favorite teams and provide new ways for our marketing partners to engage with WISCONSIN sports fans.”
