iHEARTMEDIA Urban AC WKAF (THE NEW 97.7)/BOSTON recently took part in The MARCH OF DIMES OF EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS annual “BLACK TIES FOR BABIES/BATTLE OF THE CHEFS” event. It was held at THE UMASS CLUB in BOSTON.
Morning co-host KJ CARSON and his family were selected as this years Ambassador Family for the city of BOSTON. It’s not their first time for the distinction, in 2017 they were chosen as the Ambassador Family in GREENSBORO, NC.
CARSON said, “It’s been our family’s mission to support a great organization like the MARCH OF DIMES. They helped us through our trials with the birth of our daughter SARAH who spent 114 days in the NICU. It’s incredible what the power of radio can do on behalf of others.”
PD CHRIS MALONE added, it’s been an absolute thrill to watch the success that the NEW 97.7 has brought the MARCH OF DIMES in BOSTON. I can’t say enough about our staff and particularly KJ’s efforts in helping to raise over $360,000 for them. Our station tries to help connect the community beyond the music. We are delighted to have this MARCH OF DIMES partnership as a part of our brands mission to serve GREATER BOSTON.”
MARCH OF DIMES Development Dir. SYDNEY SULLIVAN said, “This years event exceeded all expectations, raising $362,000, a success that would not have been possible without their support. We won’t stop until every mom and every baby is healthy.
BLACK TIES FOR BABIES can be described in so many ways, a dinner, an auction, a fundraiser, and a fun night out. For Mission Ambassador, SARAH JOHNSON, 7, it was a ball. SARAH picked out a new dress and new shoes for the occasion and felt like she was in the limelight as she stood on stage with her parents. For SARAH, the evening was magical. For her parents, KJ and REGINA, it was an opportunity to say thank you to an organization that saved their daughters life.”
