CRAIG CARTON has been found guilty on all counts in his trial on fraud charges. The former ENTERCOM (then CBS) Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK morning co-host was convicted on the second day of jury deliberation in the case, which alleged that CARTON engaged in a Ponzi scheme that he used to pay gambling debts and personal bills while paying early investors with money invested by later investors. CARTON did not testify at the trial.
The business involved a resale scheme for concert and sporting event tickets; two other partners, MICHAEL WRIGHT and JOSEPH MELI, were tried separately, WRIGHT pleading guilty and MELI convicted on separate fraud charges. The scheme raised over $4 million from investor including hedge fund BRIGADE CAPITAL.
CARTON was fired from WFAN when the charges broke; since his dismissal from WFAN, CARTON has been hosting a podcast and online video show.
