DIGITAL MUSIC NEWS reports that mobile formats will drive the music industry in both CHINA and INDIA, according to comments by WARNER MUSIC GROUP CEO EDGAR BRONFMAN JR. Both Asian markets have been absolutely ravaged by piracy, despite efforts to curb physical piracy and online swapping.
BRONFMAN predicted that mobile carriers and manufacturers would be perfect allies for a new music sales boom. In the region, WMG has already created mobile tie-ins involving KDDI in JAPAN, SK TELECOM in SOUTH KOREA, and CHINA UNICOM.
