Increased political ad spending helped THE E.W. SCRIPPS COMPANY enjoy Q3 revenue of $302.7 million, which led to a $19.1 million profit. That beat WALL STREET expectations even as the company divested its radio interests and bolstered its TV and podcast/digital portfolios (NET NEWS, 10/17)
“We delivered terrific operating results across the board,” CEO ADAM SYMSON said. “We also took significant action to execute our plan to reposition the company for improved operating performance and long-term growth.”
Political advertising also made a major contribution to SCRIPPS' report, as 2018 midterm revenue of $140 million was 86& higher than the 2014 midterm election.
