Longtime PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS radio play-by-play announcer BRIAN WHEELER is returning to the mic for the first time this season on SUNDAY (11/25) when the BLAZERS host the LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS at MODA CENTER. WHEELER has been on medical leave dealing with health issues that caused him to miss the opening month of the season and sidelined him for parts of last season. WHEELER, the BLAZERS' broadcaster for 21 seasons, will call home games for now, joined by analyst MICHAEL HOLTON, with TRAVIS DEMERS, who has been filling in for WHEELER, handling road games with CASEY HOLDAHL.
“Addressing my health in a positive manner was a top priority, and I’m excited about my progress so far,” said WHEELER. “I’m very appreciative of what TRAVIS DEMERS has done for RIP CITY fans in my absence; and am grateful to the TRAIL BLAZERS organization for their continued support.”
The BLAZERS are heard on iHEARTMEDIA Sports KPOJ-A (AM 620 NBC SPORTS NORTHWEST RIP CITY RADIO)/PORTLAND and a 21-station network.
