The FCC database had no new station transactions to report this morning (12/4).
In the filings showing up today, LEE FAMILY BROADCASTING, INC. has requested a Silent STA for KXCD/FAIRFIELD, ID while the new licensee seeks a new site for the station.
BATTLE CREEK COMMUNITY RADIO has applied for a Silent STA for low power WGPG-LP/BATTLE CREEK, MI due to transmitter damage from a lightning strike.
BOCOCK COMMUNICATIONS, LLC has filed for an extension of its Silent STA for WHGS-A/HAMPTON, SC due to an ill engineer and "numerous difficulties with insurance coverage, equipment replacement, repairs, flooding, hurricanes, and financing."
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY, INC. has closed on the sale of Contemporary Christian WQME (AIR1)/ANDERSON, IN to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $725,000.
And the Commission has cancelled and deleted the licenses held by SUN MOUNTAIN, INC. for KYLW-A/LOCKWOOD, MT and KBSR-A/LAUREL, MT because the stations failed to pay regulatory fees, with the Media Bureau agreeing with CONNOISSEUR MEDIA's Petition for Reconsideration of the grant of license renewals for the stations, even though it also determined CONNOISSEUR lacked standing to bring the appeal. The stations had been silent for over a year without FCC authorization when its renewals were granted in 2017.
The FCC's offices will be closed TOMORROW (12/5) in observance of a national day of mourning for the late President GEORGE H.W. BUSH.
In CANADA, the CRTC has reversed a previous decision and has approved GOLDEN WEST BROADCASTING LTD.'s application for a new FM at COCHRANE, AB that will replace CFIT-FM-1/COCHRANE, a retransmitter of Hot AC CFIT (AIR 106.1)/AIRDRIE, AB. The new station, at the rebroadcaster's current 91.5 FM slot using 10,000 watts at 118.1 meters above average terrain, will air a Country format. The original application was rejected due to fears that it would try to compete in the nearby CALGARY market.
But the CRTC denied an application by LS TELCOM LIMITED, on behalf of AUJOURD’HUI L’ESPOIR, for a new French Religion station at LACHUTE, QC, which drew concerns that the programming and equipment would be provided by non-Canadian TRANS WORLD RADIO.
And the CRTC has denied the license renewal of RADIO COMMUNAUTAIRE INTERGÉNÉRATION JARDIN DU QUÉBEC French community CHOC/SAINT-RÉMI, QC, due to non-compliance with reporting and monitoring requirements.
