Rep. MAURICE HINCHEY (D-NY) is after the FCC and major broadcasters again, this time leading six other House Democrats in writing a letter to FCC Chairman KEVIN MARTIN calling on him to "clearly outline the details" of the 10 media-ownership studies recently announced by the Commission.
HINCHEY's letter says that he and his colleagues are "concerned about the lack of information that has been released thus far regarding these endeavors" and worried that the studies have been set up in a "non-neutral manner." HINCHEY wants to hear from MARTIN on how the 10 topics were selected, the background of the people doing the studies, and other issues.
Joining HINCHEY in signing the letter are six of the House's most liberal members, Reps. TAMMY BALDWIN (D-WI), PETER DEFAZIO (D-OR), BARBARA LEE (D-CA), JIM MCDERMOTT (D-WA), LOUISE SLAUGHTER (D-NY), and LYNN WOOLSEY (D-CA).
