HUBBARD Country WYGY (97.3 THE WOLF)/CINCINNATI has laid off three air personalities, according to longtime CINCINNATI media writer JOHN KIESEWETTER, reporting for WVXU.org. ERNIE BROWN, PETE MILLER, and JIMMY SALZURULO reportedly departed the station on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4th. BROWN, who hosted mornings, is a 43-year OHIO radio veteran. SALZURULO did middays and production, while MILLER handled afternoons.
The station’s web site currently lists only night jock and Coord./promotions BUD on its air staff page. KIESEWETTER writes, “From listening … it sounds like the station will be automated without any local DJs.”
The company is also planning to build new offices and studios for its four-station CINCINNATI cluster — including WYGY and Country sister WUBE — according to THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Citing city planning documents, the newspaper reports that HUBBARD is planning to build a new, 30,000-square-foot broadcast facility in OAKLEY. According to the report, “HUBBARD has promised to retain 142 jobs when it moves to the new facility, and hire an additional 37 workers.”
