New WYMS Taps Mann As Station Mgr., Hedblade As MD

New Format Coming To Milwaukee

VICKI MANN has been named Station Mgr. and JAY HEDBLADE MD of WYMS/MILWAUKEE, which RADIO FOR MILWAUKEE will relaunch in FEBRUARY with what it calls "an innovative music format designed for a diverse audience of young adults." PARAGON MEDIA STRATEGIES CEO and MEDIA MECHANICS partner MIKE HENRY is designing the format and handling PD duties until a permanent PD is in place. WYMS will continue to broadcast programming purchased from JAZZWORKS until the relaunch.

MANN is a 30-year radio vet who has station and sales management experience in BOZEMAN, MT; BOISE; and SALT LAKE CITY, as well as marketing experience in CHICAGO and SAN FRANCISCO. She was aslo Advertising Mgr. of the 2002 WINTER OLYMPICS in SALT LAKE CITY.

HEDBLADE was previously PD/MD of WEBX/CHAMPAIGN, IL and will report to MANN until a PD for WYMS is named. "JAY was identified for several reasons, one of which is that he has been out of radio for several years," HENRY said. "We’re creating a new and daring format that has never been tried before, and we need fresh ears and ideas. I was immediately impressed with JAY’s wide and deep music sensibilities that are critical to pulling this off. JAY is a true creative, and I’m pleased to be pulling him back into radio."

WYMS is owned by MILWAUKEE PUBLIC SCHOOLS and operated by RFM.
